I’M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO ISN’T ABLE TO HAVE ONE EYE SHUT.
WHEN I TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS, I ALWAYS NEED TO HAVE BOTH EYES OPEN.

My name is Birgit Krippner.

birgitkrippner@me.com

I was born in Linz, Austria. After finishing my master degree in Graphic Design I spent two years living in Vienna. During that time I was introduced to New York City. Coming back to Vienna, I quit my job - and six month later I moved to NYC - where I ended up living for eight years.

From New York to New Zealand. For the last eight years I’ve been living in New Zealand. I might relocate to Dubai in the near future.

Photography has been with me since I was a child. Since then I have been able to express myself - my thoughts and my feelings - through my photographs.
Hopefully this will stay with me.

I’m showing my photographs around the world (see current and past exhibitions listed below). This website is one way to make this possible.
My photographs are for sale in limited editions of 15, unless agreed otherwise.

Private View: Since June 5th 2011, I’ve been working on my project, documenting
New Zealand artists and people who are sharing a passion with them (curators, art collectors, gallery owners) in their space. Some of the artists are well known and established, some others are new and emerging talents. When this body of work will be completed (in early to mid 2013), it will be exhibited throughout a number of galleries, nationally and internationally. In parallel, I am working on a book about these people, which will tell a story of the individual in photographs. This book will be for purchase when time comes.

Future exhibitions 2011:

I am planning to show my photographs in Dubai, UAE and in the United States of America in the near future. I am interested in suggestions one might have.

New York, NY: (August 2011): Artforum Magazine (New York) published two of my photographs in their Artforum magazine online issue. These photos were taken at the Auckland Art Fair, which was a fantastic event to visit.
